Troy Lockwood is the head instructor and black belt at Ralph Gracie Idaho Falls. He began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2007 in Modesto, California, training under Paul Mendoza, a longtime black belt under Ralph Gracie. Throughout his development, Troy also trained extensively under Ralph Gracie, learning directly from one of the most respected figures in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After more than a decade of dedicated training, Troy was awarded his black belt by Ralph Gracie in 2019. His technical, pressure-based style is the product of years spent training alongside some of the West Coast’s most accomplished jiu-jitsu practitioners, giving him experience with high-level competitors and instructors throughout the Ralph Gracie association and beyond. In 2022, Troy and his family relocated to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he founded Ralph Gracie Idaho Falls later that year. His mission is to provide world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction while building a strong, welcoming community rooted in discipline, respect, and technical excellence. Troy is committed to helping every student—from complete beginners to seasoned competitors—develop exceptional fundamentals, effective self-defense skills, and the confidence that comes through consistent training. His goal is to carry on the Ralph Gracie lineage by providing authentic, high-level instruction while fostering an academy where students can grow both on and off the mats.

Midiam Lockwood

Midiam Lockwood

Brown Belt Instructor

A brown belt out of Ralph Gracie Modesto, Midiam developed her game under Paul Mendoza and Danny Oseguera, bringing a pressure-heavy style built through years of hard training. Coming from a school where she was one of the few women consistently on the mats, her gritty smash-pass game was forged by training with and challenging mostly male training partners. In her kids program, Midiam focuses on building strong foundations through games, tasks, and movement-based learning that help students naturally connect the building blocks of Jiu-Jitsu. Her goal is to create a detailed understanding of how techniques work together, while keeping classes fun, engaging, and effective. Confidence. Discipline. Fundamentals. Community. Bring your kids to experience authentic Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and learn from an instructor who leads by example every single day. “Come train with us at Ralph Gracie Idaho Falls. And remember… don’t cross your feet”
